More Reflections for Week 3

1.     Does your company use research to understand its customer's?  What type of research?
My work experience are  in operation and quality. I know some colleagues in marketing function who use research to understand the customers in the engine and power generation. I did not know the details except that some are focusing on government business, some are on business customers, and some are on the consumers’ markets. I am eager to know more on how they do research in detail since I know more terms in marketing now and am able to ask good questions.

2.     What Insights does Dr. Rosling gain from the data collection and analysis he conducts in the video.  How important is the visual display of data in creating these insights?
The global economy and demographic is very important as secondary market research for a global company. Very effective representation of these enormous data can tell the story very well and the point can be well taken by the audience. The demographic trend in life longevity with shorter family size was among the most interesting to me, addition to the child survival rates, mentioned in my previous post.

3.     Where will you go to collect data for your marketing plan?  How can you learn about the type of consumers in the market you have been assigned?  How will you convey and provide insights to your client using this information?

We will start with secondary market research by using internet to collect data. I think we could use history sales data for various types of consumers in learning about the type of consumers in the market.  To convey and provide ours insights to our client, a good presentation, including video use, will be critical for convincing the client in our marketing strategy.
